Rock & Roll History

Mike Harvey's The Ziggy Stardust Companion website is the definitive source of anything and everything you might want to know about Ziggy. It will illuminate a lot of visual and musical connections between the film and the glam era. And there is a section devoted to the Velvet Goldmine film.

Thanks for that web site. It help clear up somethings about the movie. But my question is where do you find the original VG screenplay?

Well when you know how much love and devotion goes into a good site, as you do darling, you do appreciate when others are equally obsessed.

us, obsessed?? Never!! ;) ;)

Funny but that's tomorrow's subject!

The screenplay is out of print, unfortunately. I'm not sure where you are but Amazon has used copies and will ship internationally. But be careful, some sellers have reasonably priced used copies under $20 and (for comparison, the US List price was $12.95 and $17.95 in Canada) but some prices are ridiculously high, like the one terribly terribly optimistic bloke who has one for sale for $625.00!

To read the script, Rouge Velvet (see comment above) has a copy on her site, Moulin Goldmine.

Hopelessly Devoted perhaps

I excuse my obsessive nature by thinking of Ewan, as Billy, waxing poetically over his birds in Little Voice,

"Anyway, it can be boring to the non-enthusiast."

Isn't he delightful in that role? I think it's underrated. Imagine the man who played Curt Wild, Jerome, and Joe in Young Adam as sexually awkward. That's ACTING! :-D

And I got the English one from ebay a few years ago. Smaller, different cover, no pics we haven't seen before, but a few differences.

I didn't know the American one was out of print. I've just taken my coffee cup off of my now apparently rare and precious commodity!

Interesting, the U.S. one says "Previously published in Great Britain by Faber and Faber". Now why would THEY get it first ;-)

Mine has all my notes so I dread spilling anything on it but ~yes ok, I'll gloat just a bit~ I got Todd to sign it at a screening, so geez, maybe I should not have a cuppa anywhere near it!
