I've always found this tidbit fascinating, WRT Angie and Mandy too; both Bowie and Brian were perceived as such tightly wrapped, enigmatic personalities, it must have been a major triumph to have a song written for one.

Todd didn't really cover this explicitly in the film, of course, but I think there was at least an allusion to it during the Ladytron sequence - his total and complete attention focused on her for brief and shining moments. Glorious!
