HARD CUT TO BLACK:
‘Make Me Smile’/Steve Harley Cockney Rebel over closing credits.

Like so many glam songs, Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me) evokes Hollywood movies, with its echo of Mae West's famous line, Why doncha come up and see me sometime? According to the official Steve Harley website, Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me), 'reached Number One in 1975 in the UK and many European countries and is regularly voted among the top singles in the history of the charts, which covers six decades of releases. The Performing Rights Society has confirmed it one of the most played records in British broadcasting. The song has been covered more than 100 times in seven languages and has been featured in several movies including The Full Monty (whose soundtrack album went triple platinum in the UK, and platinum in the USA and Australia), Velvet Goldmine, Best and Saving Grace.'

I was wondering if you;d mind if I compiled all of this trivia, as well as trivia brough up in the comments, into a word document or something? Adding the illustrations and everything, as a sort of viewing guide, since my computer and my tv are on seperate floors. Also, I'd like to share it with a few friends of mine who also like Velvet Goldmine.

I would, of course, email it to you first so you could approve or disapprove of any of it.

I gave this some consideration and while I do appreciate your enthusiasm about my journal, I would prefer that if you want to print anything from it that you print the whole page rather than compile it into a document. This way my work and the contributions of other people will remain their own. If the material is cut and pasted into another form by someone else, no matter how well intentioned, it will invariably lose its connection to the original. I've put a lot of work into this project and I hope you understand how I feel about it.

I totally understand your feelings about this. It's your baby; I get that.

I'll print out the journals in the old style instead. It'll be the exact same thing.

And thanks so much for this!
