The picture of Brian Slade on the cover of the script is similar to the Frankenstein-like shot of Lou Reed on the cover of the album Transformer.
Transformer/Script

Photographer Mick Rock says the image accidentally got out of focus during the printing and it took 12 attempts to recreate that mistake for the album cover.

The Velvet Goldmine script is a must have companion to the film and it has a fabulous interview with Todd Haynes and and great introduction by executive producer Michael Stipe.


I saw this remarkable 1921 Man Ray photograph of La Marquise Casati at MOMAs Dada show recently and thought it looked familiar:
