Is from The Picture of Dorian Gray. The context here isn't particularly enlightening, it just seems that Wilde is really saying women are passive aggressive long before that term was coined. Sibyl Vane's brother and mother are talking on the eve of his departure to Australia. Mrs Vane is described:
